DHCS Announces Schools Will Time Survey in FY 2012/13, Interim Claiming Methodology Approved

Sacramento, CA – July 17, 2012 – The school MAA program for 2012-13 will continue with a one-week time study beginning Monday September 17th.

As many of you may have heard today from your LECs or LGAs, the school MAA program for 2012-13 will continue with a one-week time study beginning Monday September 17th.

This time study has been approved for California by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to maintain MAA funding for schools while a new time study methodology is being developed by the state’s Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). CMS considers this weekly time study an “interim” methodology for school MAA funding. This means that claims based on these surveys will ultimately need to be reconciled with invoice results created from the approved new methodology, and such a reconciliation may result in revising “interim” claims.

Paradigm is working to coordinate our Q1 2012-13 time study trainings in accordance with all of your LECs and LGAs. Traditionally, we cannot train you until your LEC or LGA has provided their training. This may be the perfect catalyst and opportunity to get all of your participants onto our virtual time survey training. Paradigm’s virtual training has been an approved method for training both new and continuing participants on the MAA program. It will be available on MAA Gateway for all of your participants, affording you the flexibility of not having to organize participant schedules, room bookings, and other regular operational feats at the last minute.

During this time of change for school MAA funding, Paradigm continues to expend every effort to keep you informed and to assure regulatory compliance for your program.
