Policy Brief Examining Electronic Signatures Published by Paradigm’s Policy & Research Division

San Francisco, CA – June 5, 2012 – As first announced in our May 4, 2012 news post, ‘Blue Ink Signatures, A Thing of the Past,’ Paradigm’s Policy & Research Division has published a policy brief further exploring the issue of electronic signatures in California.

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) will begin accepting electronic signatures in lieu of manual ‘blue ink’ signatures on Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) and Targeted Case Management (TCM) program time surveys beginning July 1, 2012 (DHCS PPL 12-009, April 2012).

Paradigm’s policy brief, Electronic Signatures for California’s MAA Program (June 4, 2012), explores the question of compliance as it relates to the criteria for electronic signatures as outlined in PPL 12-009 and includes several resources for additional research into other states employing similar requirements for their school Medicaid reimbursement programs.
