San Francisco Superior Court, Case No. 509-499, SFUSD vs. California DHCS: Order Granting Motion for Attorney’s Fees

On July 24, 2013, five months after the final judgment was issued in favor of San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), the San Francisco Superior Court signed an order which entitles SFUSD to recover their attorney’s fees in the amount of $274,233 from the State of California. The final judgment, issued in February of this year, stipulated that SFUSD is entitled to reimbursement for certain medical services provided to Medi-Cal eligible regular education students — services that are frequently referred to as ‘free care’ services.
