“We are helping kids. It’s MAAvelous!”

April 24, 2014 – San Francisco, CA – Paradigm hosts School Medicaid Coordinator Conferences throughout California on an annual basis to provide school administrators, program coordinators, and fiscal coordinators with a renewed grasp on their Medicaid billing programs. Attendees are exposed to new data and information that help them achieve compliance with program rules and running optimized programs. This year’s events were themed “Doing My Part,” emphasizing and honoring the part the attendees play in building smarter programs and healthier communities.

Topics from this year’s conferences included:

      • A thorough tour of the sources of authority for school Medicaid audits, including a discussion on today’s audit “hotspots.” Attendees walked away with a refreshed perspective on demonstrating compliance with program rules and regulations.
      • In preparation for the imminent implementation of Random Moment Time Studying (RMTS) in California, attendees were enlightened on current policy debates, the impact RMTS will have on their local program, and how to continue to leverage available funding under the new methodology.
      • To better understand the LEA Billing Cost and Reimbursement Comparison Schedule (CRCS), Paradigm distributed district-specific analyses and engaged coordinators in a discussion on the CRCS audit process. Ultimately, this allowed coordinators to ‘walk-back’ the overall impact the CRCS has on their LEA Billing programs.
      • In honor of program coordinator role and the challenges coordinators often face, a session was offered that focused in on how to boost participation and increase local buy-in and support. Coordinators walked away with district-specific “performance” information, and ideas for how to improve their local programs.
      • To round off the event, Paradigm provided an inside look at how to advocate for California’s school Medi-Cal programs and how coordinators make a difference. In a time of change, and navigating around roadblocks like the federal payment deferral, local voices are more critical than ever.
Paradigm clients who were unable to attend the conferences this year can still benefit from the material that was covered. Simply contact Paradigm via email or by phone at (888) 536-0920 for more information.
