California Schools Chief Recommends Schools to Prepare for Distance Learning

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020 California’s schools chief, Tony Thurmond, released a letter he wrote to the 58 county superintendents of schools. The letter stated that it is likely students will not be returning to school before the end of the school year due to the current safety concerns and ongoing need for social distancing.  Furthermore, the letter suggested that despite school campuses’ being closed for the year, school should not be closed, and instead, effort should be placed “…Into strengthening our delivery of education through distance learning.”
