Paradigm Celebrates the CYBHI Annual Report: A Year of Empowering Schools

The California Health & Human Services Agency (CalHHS) has released its much-anticipated annual report on the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), illuminating the strides taken in 2023 to transform the behavioral health landscape for the state's young residents.

Under the visionary leadership of CalHHS Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly and CYBHI Director Dr. Sohil Sud, California has embarked on an ambitious journey to build a more coordinated, youth-centered, and accessible system. The initiative, part of Governor Newsom’s Master Plan for Kids' Mental Health, prioritizes early intervention, equitable access to care, and the dismantling of mental health stigma.

Key accomplishments highlighted in the 'CYBHI 2023: Implementing the Vision' report include the launch of trauma-informed training for educational settings, substantial investments to bolster the behavioral health workforce, and the implementation of groundbreaking virtual services platforms for families.

We at Paradigm are humbled to contribute to the collective mission of enhancing behavioral health for California’s youth. Our work with Contra Costa and San Francisco counties on their SBHIP initiatives and the inclusion of 15 of our LEA clients in Cohort 1 of the All-Payer Fee Schedule implementation plan is a small, yet meaningful part of the statewide effort to improve access to mental health care in schools.

We're inspired by the strides made and are eager to continue this journey, bringing innovative solutions to the forefront of student health and well-being.
